Santa Fe man detained pending trial for femicide of Daiana Arber

A 32‑year‑old man identified only by the initials LH was ordered into pre‑trial detention by Judge Martín Torres following a prosecutor’s request. He is accused of the femicide of Daiana Arber in Santa Fe, where investigators say he shot her at least four times with a .22 calibre firearm on 25 June, causing fatal injuries to her head, chest and abdomen. Prosecutor Laura Gerard stated that the suspect also possessed a hand‑grenade that appeared to be active and was marked “TNT”. After the killing, the suspect and an unidentified accomplice allegedly moved the victim’s body to a nearby landfill, discarding it among waste. The court imposed preventive detention to mitigate procedural risks, while the investigation continues into the illegal explosive material and the possible involvement of additional persons.

The prosecutor emphasized that the crime exemplifies extreme gender‑based violence, citing the abuse of the victim’s vulnerability and the contempt shown by discarding her body. A house search on 27 June uncovered the grenade, which had been altered with blue paint. The suspect now faces charges of femicide and illegal possession of explosive material.
