Santa Fe municipality under scrutiny over unused 2‑billion‑peso sewer fund

Councilor Pedro Medei of the Frente Renovador accused the Santa Fe municipal government of holding a dedicated 2 billion‑peso fund for sewer and sanitation works that has not been spent, even though almost half of the city’s residents still lack sewer connections. He filed a formal request for information to determine why the mayor has not launched the projects and to question the oversight body that should monitor the fund.

At the same time, the provincial administration led by Governor Maximiliano Pullaro opened a tender to expand and modernize the sewer system in the San Genaro district of San Jerónimo. Eleven firms offered to install about 7.8 km of new PVC collector pipes, construct 51 new manholes and 13 chambers, and add roughly 300 new household connections, aiming to increase coverage from 68 % to 80 % and upgrade the main treatment plant.

Both actions highlight the contrast between the alleged inactivity of municipal resources and the provincial government’s effort to advance San Felipe’s sanitation infrastructure.
