Santa Fe producers and hunters to address invasive species

The Federación Santafesina de Caza y Tiro Deportivo and the Asociación de Legítimos Usuarios de Armas de Santa Fe have organized a meeting in Reconquista to address the impact of invasive species on the northern Santa Fe region. The gathering aims to discuss the role of hunting as a control mechanism for exotic species, including mourning doves affecting sunflower and sorghum crops, as well as the expansion of wild boars and feral pigs.

Organizers warned that the El Niño phenomenon could exacerbate the situation, as increased rainfall and potential flooding may drive these animals from island areas toward higher ground. This movement poses risks to agricultural production and increases the likelihood of road accidents on National Route 11 and Provincial Route 1.

The meeting will also provide information regarding new ANMaC regulations. A recent one-year policy allows for the legalization and re-registration of inherited firearms that currently lack up-to-date documentation, facilitating the regularization of weapons held in rural properties and private homes.
