Santa Fe proposes expanded parking benefits for residents
In Santa Fe, the Municipal Government has proposed expanding benefits for residents affected by the Municipal Ordered Parking System (SEOM). Following meetings with neighborhood representatives from areas including Candioti and the Port, the Executive branch plans to submit a proposal to the Municipal Council to increase the daily free parking allowance for residents from three to four hours on weekdays and to grant free parking on Saturdays.
Despite these proposed changes, some neighborhood leaders expressed dissatisfaction, stating they will leave with a ‘sabor a poco’ (taste of little) because they are still seeking total exemption from parking fees. Critics, including the Fundación Centro, have labeled the system as ‘desordenado y desmedido’ (disordered and excessive), arguing it serves primarily to increase tax collection rather than organizing urban traffic.
In other regional developments, the City Council of Oberá approved tax exemptions for curb and gutter works completed under the ‘Esfuerzo Compartido’ program in Villa Barreyro II and Barrio Ecológico. Meanwhile, in San Martín, an emergency status has been declared for SMEs to provide tax relief and facilitate debt regularizations through December 31. In Salta, local vendors are seeking dialogue with the municipality to resolve internal disputes and address declining sales.
