Santa Fe regional news: municipal updates and public safety reports

Various regional developments have been reported in the Santa Fe province. In Rosario, municipal authorities are pursuing fines of up to $4.8 million against a business responsible for the unauthorized and aggressive cutting of a native aromito tree.

In Funes, the Municipal Council ratified an ordinance allowing 16 and 17-year-olds to operate electric vehicles, provided they wear helmets and hold insurance. This decision follows a recent accident involving a 14-year-old, though officials noted the minor did not meet the legal requirements of the existing law.

Regarding public safety, the provincial Ministry of Justice and Security has updated its official portal for most-wanted persons to improve citizen participation in investigations. The program has already led to 16 arrests and $88 million in paid rewards. Meanwhile, in Alvear, a shooting near a football field resulted in the death of a 24-year-old and left two others injured.

Additionally, the Rosario Secretariat of Control introduced ‘Memoria Vial’, a documentary for secondary schools that examines fatal traffic accidents occurring between 1997 and 2025 to promote road safety education.
