Santa Fe residents protest dangerous motorcycle street racing

Residents of the Belgrano neighborhood in Santa Fe are reporting increasing insecurity and disturbances caused by illegal motorcycle street racing. Neighbors near the intersection of Facundo Zuviría and Vieytes avenues have denounced high-speed maneuvers, with motorcycles reportedly traveling at 100 kilometers per hour, often driving against traffic. These incidents, which frequently occur during weekends and late at night, involve loud exhausts and high-speed police chases, creating a constant fear of serious accidents involving pedestrians or motorists.

Mayor Juan Pablo Poletti has acknowledged the difficulty of managing the phenomenon, describing it as an itinerant pattern where racing groups relocate to different sectors of the city to evade law enforcement. Previous hotspots included the Costanera and Las Flores areas. To combat this, the Municipality of Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Police are implementing a strategy based on preventive intelligence to anticipate gatherings and increase the seizure of vehicles to deactivate these groups.
