Santa Fe school launches family pact to delay smartphone use

The Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepción in Santa Fe has launched a voluntary initiative to help families establish common criteria regarding children's access to mobile phones, social media, and screens. The proposal encourages families within the same grade or classroom to reach a pact to postpone the delivery of the first personal smartphone and delay the creation of individual social media profiles.

Targeting students in kindergarten and the first cycle of primary school, the initiative aims to create a shared framework rather than a total prohibition. Rector Emanuel Sicre stated that the goal is to provide a platform for agreements so that families can regulate digital access collectively, preventing isolation in decision-making between households. For an agreement to be implemented within a specific group, it requires the support of more than 50% of the families in that class.
