Santa Fe shooting victims die as investigations upgraded to homicide

Two men who were shot in separate firearm attacks in the city of Santa Fe, Argentina, have died. Federico Acosta, 46, was wounded in the head on 31 May in the Uruguay‑San José area and died on Sunday after more than two weeks in intensive care. The case, originally classified as serious injuries, has now been re‑opened as a homicide investigation.

A second victim, identified only by the initials E.R., 40, was shot in the abdomen and chest on a Saturday night in the San Lorenzo neighbourhood. He was taken to Hospital José María Cullen, underwent surgery, but died on Monday. His case has likewise been re‑classified as homicide. Authorities have not announced any arrests and continue to collect testimony and forensic evidence to identify the shooters.

Both investigations are being led by the Provincial Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency under the direction of the local prosecutor, with no motive disclosed and no suspects publicly identified.
