Santa Fe to host major international sporting events in 2026

The province of Santa Fe, Argentina, is preparing to host significant international sporting events in 2026. The region will serve as a hub for both sailing and open water swimming competitions.

For the 2026 South American Games, Venezuelan sailors Daniela Rivera and Marx Chirinos will compete in the sailing events held in Santa Fe. Rivera, an Olympic sailor, aims for gold following a silver medal in the 2018 Santiago edition. Chirinos will compete in the men's sunfish class, seeking to improve upon previous regional placements.

Additionally, Santa Fe will host the World Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships from September 3 to 6, 2026. This marks the first time Argentina will host a World Aquatics event. Approximately 300 athletes from over 40 countries are expected to compete at the Parque del Sur circuit, featuring distances ranging from 5km to 10km, as well as a Knockout Sprint format.
