Santa Giusta hosts opening weekend of OTHOS festival
The third edition of OTHOS – Art, History, and Traditions in the Land of Obsidian has commenced in Santa Giusta, Sardinia. The festival, which runs through December, aims to showcase local heritage through various cultural activities.
The opening weekend featured guided tours of the Basilica of Santa Giusta, a significant Romanesque monument built in the first half of the 12th century. The basilica, which served as the cathedral for the ancient diocese of Santa Giusta, exhibits Pisan architectural influences and contains Roman-era reused columns and capitals.
Participants also engaged in urban trekking to explore the historical links between the medieval structures and the ancient settlement of Othoca. The basilica’s crypt remains a key site, housing the relics of Saints Giusta, Giustina, and Enedina.
