The cardiology department at Santa Maria della Pietà hospital in Nola has implemented a new organizational model focused on day hospital and same-day discharge, resulting in a 20.1% increase in activity compared to the previous year.

Promoted by Asl Napoli 3 Sud, the initiative has successfully reduced waiting times, with a median wait of 14 days. Data indicates that all patients are treated within their required priority timelines. The model allows for clinical evaluation, procedures, observation, and discharge to occur within a single day for 90.3% of scheduled day hospital procedures.

This approach aims to reserve traditional inpatient hospitalization for those with the greatest clinical need while optimizing hospital resources and bed availability. The program is managed by directors Luciano Carbone and Mario Volpicelli, with nursing coordination by Francesco Napoli.
