Santa Maria di Sala: 20-year-old woman killed in traffic accident
A 20-year-old woman, Mariama Barry of Stigliano, died on Tuesday morning following a traffic accident at the Tre Ponti roundabout on the SR 515 “Noalese” in Santa Maria di Sala.
Preliminary investigations suggest the victim was walking toward a bus stop to reach Mestre for her first day of work when she was involved in an incident. Reports indicate she may have been struck by an initial vehicle, causing her to fall within the roundabout, where she was subsequently hit by a passing van. Despite attempts at first aid by bystanders and the arrival of emergency medical services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Investigators are looking into whether a first vehicle struck the victim's bicycle, causing her fall, and have noted that surveillance cameras at the roundabout were not functioning at the time of the accident. Simone Venturini, President of the Metropolitan City of Venice, expressed deep condolences to the family and the community of Stigliano.
