Santa Maria di Terni Hospital increases robotic surgery volume
Santa Maria di Terni Hospital in Italy reported a significant increase in robotic surgery procedures during the first half of 2026. The facility performed 268 procedures, marking an increase of 92 interventions compared to the same period in 2025.
When benchmarked against other Italian hospitals using a single da Vinci technology platform, the hospital ranks among the top ten performing centers. The growth is most notable in three primary specialties: urology (114 procedures), general surgery (104 procedures), and gynecology (50 procedures).
The robotic program is utilized for complex cases, including colon and rectal resections, hiatal hernia surgery, gastrectomies, and hepatic and pancreatic surgeries. The technology allows for smaller incisions and increased precision during operations.
