Santa Maria protests planned following ICE enforcement surge
Protests are being organized in Santa Maria, California, in response to a surge in immigration enforcement activities by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Local advocacy groups, including 805 Undocufund and Indivisible Santa Maria, have scheduled demonstrations near the ICE field office to protest what they describe as a crackdown on the community.
805 Respuesta Rapida reports that more than 100 detentions have been documented in the area since October 5. The organization has highlighted instances of harassment against volunteers and reported that enforcement operations have resulted in families being separated and the loss of personal belongings and vehicles.
Community members are calling for solidarity with local rapid responders who document ICE presence and provide education to residents. The demonstrations aim to bring attention to the impact of these operations on local families and to demand greater transparency from federal authorities.
