Santa Maria woman killed in fatal Black Road crash

A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on August 28 on the 5000 block of Black Road, west of Orcutt, when a Ford F-150 veered off the roadway and rolled down an embankment. The vehicle ended up approximately 125 feet off the road.

Leidis Litez-Perez, a 39-year-old woman from Santa Maria, was a passenger in the vehicle and was ejected during the rollover. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 39-year-old man from Lompoc, was also ejected and transported to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident to determine contributing factors. Authorities stated that drugs and alcohol use are not currently suspected. The CHP is requesting that anyone with information or witnesses to the crash contact the Santa Maria Office.
