Santa Marta de Tormes: Fire breaks out near San Blas school

A grass fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon in an abandoned plot adjacent to the CEIP San Blas school in Santa Marta de Tormes. This marks the third fire recorded on this specific plot in less than a week, following previous incidents on August 21 and 23.

Emergency response teams, including five units from the Salamanca Provincial Council firefighters and environmental agents, worked to contain the flames. Strong wind gusts complicated efforts to perimeter the area. Local police also entered the school grounds to assess the situation and prevent damage to the facility.

As of the latest report, the fire has not directly affected the school's infrastructure. The Junta de Castilla y León has classified the fire with a Potential Gravity Index of 0, indicating no immediate danger to the population or high-value non-forest assets. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
