Santa Marta de Tormes launches solidarity athletics team

The Santa Marta de Tormes City Council has introduced ‘Piel de Mariposa Santa Marta de Tormes’, a new athletics team founded by local runners led by Daniel Mata. The group already consists of 160 members, making it one of the largest in the province.

The team aims to combine sports with solidarity by raising awareness for the rare disease Epidermolysis Bullosa (commonly known as ‘Butterfly Skin’). The initiative specifically seeks to support Javi Gallo, a local child living with the condition, and his family. The group is structured with active runners and collaborating members who provide financial support.

The official launch is scheduled for this coming Sunday, coinciding with the 10K Ciudad de Santa Marta race.
