Santa Monica Pier to host inaugural Swiss Winter Village
The Santa Monica Pier will host the inaugural Swiss Winter Village, a European-style holiday market bringing Alpine traditions to Southern California. Running from November 27 through January 3, the event is expected to attract between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors.
The market will feature over 100 traditional wooden chalets offering artisan crafts and regional Swiss culinary specialties, such as fondue, raclette, and spiced drinks. Additional attractions include a faux ice-skating rink, live musical performances, seasonal workshops, and family-friendly entertainment.
Following a unanimous vote by the Santa Monica City Council to partner with Swiss Xmas Inc., the city is set to receive a minimum payout of $320,200 or 8% of net ticketing revenue, whichever is higher. Officials have stated that taxpayers will not subsidize the event. General admission tickets are expected to cost approximately $15.
