Santa Rosa de Cabal child safety case prompts police and family office investigation

A video recorded by a neighbor in the La Pradera II neighbourhood of Santa Rosa de Cabal, Risaralda, showed two children trapped between a window and exterior railings of a house. The footage sparked community alarm and led local authorities to intervene.

The Policía de Infancia y Adolescencia, the Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF) and the Comisaría de Familia opened an investigation, transferred the children to a care centre and performed medical assessments that found no physical injuries. Authorities emphasized that the absence of injuries does not rule out possible neglect or other rights violations, and the case remains under investigation to determine responsibility and any needed protective measures. The municipal Personería called on the public to report similar situations and to avoid sharing images of minors online.
