Santa Rosa indigenous community faces repression during Jujuy eviction
The Santa Rosa indigenous community in Humahuaca, Jujuy, reported violent repression during a court-ordered eviction. Families claim the judicial measure, signed by Judge Juan Pablo Calderón, failed to respect their collective rights as an indigenous people.
Enrique Farfán, president of the Chocoya community, stated that the conflict stems from errors in cadastral plans provided by the Directorate of Real Estate. He noted that the agency acknowledged the inaccuracies, which resulted in the incorrect mapping of community members' homes. The community, which holds legal status, has called for local organizations and neighbors to support their resistance against the eviction.
