Santa Teresita: Search expands for two missing kayakers
Authorities have expanded the search for two kayakers, aged 43 and 64, who disappeared off the coast of Santa Teresita, Argentina. The men entered the water on Monday morning and were last heard from approximately two nautical miles from the shore near street 29, where one individual reported difficulties returning due to strong winds.
The search operation, initially led by Prefectura Naval, has been reinforced by the Argentine Navy. The expanded effort includes an aircraft from the Maritime Surveillance Naval Air Squadron, the patrol vessel ARA ‘Storni’, and tactical divers. The maritime area has been divided into four search sectors to coordinate efforts between the Navy, Prefectura Naval, and local fishing vessels.
Search teams are conducting operations by air, sea, and land. The missing individuals were using two specific kayak models: a green Karku and a turquoise Escualo. Despite continuous patrols and aerial surveillance, the kayakers and their vessels have not yet been located.
