Santagada wins T. von Zastrow Stutenpreis in Baden-Baden

The four-year-old mare Santagada secured a decisive victory in the T. von Zastrow Stutenpreis, a Group II race held in Baden-Baden with a prize of 70,000 euros. Ridden by jockey Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and trained by Peter Schiergen, Santagada successfully navigated a competitive field of nine mares, finding a crucial gap on the final straight to overtake her rivals.

Light the Ghost from France finished in second place, followed by Innora in third. The French favorite Calasita finished fourth after being hindered by the race flow. This victory marks Santagada’s eighth career win and her sixth Group-level success.

Owner Helmut von Finck expressed significant emotional relief following the win, noting the importance of the victory for the legacy of the mare’s sire, Soldier Hollow. While her future schedule remains undecided, Santagada has been nominated for several prestigious upcoming races, including the Prix de l'Opera and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
