Santana and Feira de Santana launch municipal anti‑rabies vaccination campaign

The municipal health secretaries in Santana and Feira de Santana, Brazil, have begun a coordinated anti‑rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats. In Santana, the campaign started on July 23 at Praça do Fórum, covering neighborhoods such as Remédios, Vila Amazonas and later Jardim Floresta, Acquaville, Hospitalidade, Centro and Nova Brasília, with scheduled sessions continuing through August.

Feira de Santana held its first Saturday mobilization, vaccinating 5,717 animals across eight neighborhoods, including Kalilândia and Caseb. The effort will continue with weekly Saturday sites in August and September and a fixed vaccination point at the Unidade de Vigilância de Zoonoses. Officials aim to immunize roughly 58,700 animals city‑wide. The campaign offers free vaccination and includes guidelines for pet owners, such as using leashes and proper carriers.
