Santander approves additional family subsidies

The Santander City Council has approved an additional 45 grants of 200 euros each to provide economic support for families with children. This new allocation, totaling 9,000 euros, was authorized by the Local Government Board.

Beneficiaries may receive the 200-euro payment jointly or individually as 100 euros per parent. In cases of separation or divorce, the aid goes to the custodial parent, while shared custody arrangements split the amount equally. To qualify, applicants must have been registered residents of Santander for at least one year prior to the birth or adoption of the child.

The deadline for applications is December 31, with an extension to January 31 for children born or adopted in December. So far this year, more than 420 families have received support through this municipal program, which has an initial budget of 120,000 euros that may be expanded if necessary.
