Colombia President submits report alleging 80 corruption cases
Colombian President Abelardo De la Espriella has submitted a 135-page document titled ‘El libro de la verdad’ (The Book of Truth) to the Attorney General’s Office, the Inspector General, and the Comptroller General. The report details over 80 alleged cases of corruption and mismanagement during the administration of former President Gustavo Petro.
Key allegations include the premature exhaustion of the budget for the Colombia Mayor program in July 2026, potentially affecting three million elderly citizens. The report also cites irregularities within the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), a suspected parallel payroll of 900,000 pesos, and issues regarding the agrarian reform. Specifically, it claims that while 351,463 hectares were reportedly delivered, only about 7% have full legal titles.
Other findings involve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noting 785 contracts totaling approximately 83,000 million pesos signed before the law of guarantees, and alleged mismanagement of funds in the health sector. Vice President José Manuel Restrepo and other officials stated that the document is intended to trigger formal investigations by judicial and oversight bodies to determine criminal, disciplinary, and fiscal responsibilities.
