Santander Consumer Bank report details Polish saving and spending habits
A report by Santander Consumer Bank reveals key trends in the financial habits of Polish citizens regarding savings and household management. Approximately 47% of respondents have savings and save money regularly, while 27% possess a reserve but are not currently increasing it. About 17% of the population lacks a financial cushion entirely.
Regarding domestic finances, the report indicates that 44% of couples decide on daily finances jointly. However, many individuals manage budgets independently; 40% identify themselves as the primary decision-maker, a trend more common among women (44%) than men (36%). Additionally, one in three Poles admits to hiding certain expenditures from their partners to avoid financial arguments.
Demographic data shows that regular saving is most prevalent among the 18-29 and 40-49 age groups. Conversely, the lack of savings is most notable among 50-year-olds. Income levels also play a significant role, with 69% of high-income earners saving regularly compared to only 7% of those in poor financial situations.
