Santander court admits appeal over road closure under Banco Santander arch
A court in Santander has admitted an administrative appeal filed by Izquierda Unida (IU) regarding the closure of the road under the Banco Santander arch on Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola Street. The legal action follows the City Council's failure to respond to formal requests to restore traffic and the original route for the 5C2 TUS bus line through the area, also known as Calle del Martillo.
The road is slated to host an art collection starting in September. The court has granted the City Council three days to present allegations regarding the precautionary measures requested by IU. While the political party initially sought immediate measures, the court decided to allow the municipality to respond before making a ruling to prevent the closure from becoming irreversible.
IU is primarily seeking the provisional reopening of the road to allow access for the 5C2 bus line, taxis, residents, emergency vehicles, and delivery services while the legal proceedings continue.
