Santander International Festival announces new musical and literary events

The Santander International Festival is expanding its programming through various musical and literary events. As part of the Feria del Libro Viejo in Santander, guitarist and composer Jaime Velasco will perform a recital titled ‘La guitarra y la Generación del 27’ on Saturday, August 15. The program explores the musical connections of the Generation of 27, featuring works influenced by Manuel de Falla and compositions by members of the Group of Eight, such as Julián Bautista and Salvador Bacarisse.

Additionally, the festival’s ‘Marcos Históricos’ cycle is extending to several locations, including Escalante, Noja, Arnuero, Hoz de Anero, Suances, and Puente Viesgo. On Tuesday, August 18, a concert in Escalante will feature violist Isabel Villanueva and pianist François Dumont. Their repertoire includes Brahms’s Sonata in F minor, op. 120 no. 1, and Shostakovich’s final work, the Sonata for Viola and Piano, op. 147.
