Santander launches eSIM service for global mobile data via banking app
Banco Santander has introduced an eSIM product that lets customers purchase and manage mobile data for travel directly within the Santander banking app. Developed with telecom platform provider Gigs, the service offers data packages ranging from 3 GB to 50 GB and provides coverage in more than 160 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil and Thailand.
The launch begins in Spain, with plans to extend the offering to Portugal and Mexico before rolling out to additional Santander markets. The initiative is part of Santander’s broader digital‑services strategy, aiming to give frequent travelers a convenient, cost‑effective alternative to traditional roaming without needing a physical SIM card or third‑party apps.
