Santander Mexico’s credit portfolio tops 1 trillion pesos in Q2 2026
Santander Mexico reported that its total credit portfolio reached 1,003,396 million pesos in the second quarter of 2026, surpassing the 1‑trillion‑peso mark for the first time. The growth represented a 7.7% increase year‑on‑year and a 1.7% sequential rise. Director‑General Felipe García Ascencio said the milestone reflects the bank’s long‑term commitment to supporting individuals, entrepreneurs and families across the country.
The commercial segment drove most of the expansion, with corporate loans up 72.2% and small‑and‑medium‑enterprise credit rising 6.0% year‑on‑year. Individual credit grew 7.5% thanks to higher mortgage, auto and consumer‑loan volumes, offset by a 4.1% drop in credit‑card balances. Net profit for the first half of 2026 was 18,351 million pesos, a 14.2% year‑on‑year increase, while total deposits rose 1.7% to 986.9 billion pesos. At the end of June, the bank served more than 22.2 million customers, including 8.8 million digital users, and the loan‑to‑deposit ratio improved amid a modest decline in delinquency rates.
