Santander nears green finance goal early and expands private banking

Santander has reached 85% of its €220 billion green finance target for 2030, six years ahead of schedule. The bank mobilized €14 billion in the first half of 2026, bringing its cumulative total since 2019 to €188 billion. This follows the early achievement of its 2025 target of €120 billion. The bank's sustainable finance efforts include project finance, green bonds, and renewable energy investments, which added 16.8 GW of capacity in 2025 alone.

In addition to its sustainability milestones, Santander is expanding its private banking services. The bank has launched a new tool for high-net-worth individuals with assets of at least €2 million. This service allows clients to centralize and consolidate their external financial positions within Santander for global management and advisory purposes without requiring the physical transfer of every account.
