Argentine suspect arrested for murder of woman in Benahavís, Málaga
The Guardia Civil arrested a 60‑year‑old Argentine man in the town of Istán, about 30 km from Benahavís, after a ten‑day search for the killer of a 45‑year‑old woman whose body was found on 21 July in the Los Arqueros residential area of Benahavís, Málaga. The victim, identified as Melinda, a Bulgarian‑Hungarian national, had been stabbed in the neck with a cutter. Neighbours reported hearing a scream and seeing a man flee the scene in a car. The suspect, who had been living with the victim for two months and had known her since the COVID‑19 lockdown, attempted to cut his own throat during the arrest but was subdued by police. Andalusian government delegate Pedro Fernández said there is no evidence the case involves gender‑based violence, as the two were not a couple. The autopsy report remains pending while investigators continue to determine the motive and any possible links to other crimes.
