Santander power restoration underway after severe storm
Electrical service is being restored in phases across the Santander department following a severe thunderstorm that struck between the night of September 10 and the early morning of September 11. The storm caused significant damage to electrical networks, downed trees, and impacted infrastructure.
The Electrificadora de Santander (ESSA) reported that 84% of the affected areas have regained power. However, as of the latest report, 8,457 customers remain without service. The outages impacted both urban and rural sectors, including Bucaramanga, Girón, Floridablanca, Piedecuesta, Barrancabermeja, and several other municipalities.
ESSA has deployed specialized crews to inspect circuits, locate faults, and perform repairs. The company noted that restoration requires technical procedures to ensure safety and minimize risks to both the community and workers.
