Santander targets young investors with new digital banking services

Santander is expanding its digital banking services to target young investors under the age of 30 in Spain. The strategy includes offering index funds with entry points as low as 10 euros, covering major indices such as the IBEX 35, Euro Stoxx 50, and S&P 500.

To compete with neobanks and digital brokers, the entity has reduced transaction fees for stocks and ETFs to 1 euro per operation and lowered management commissions for delegated portfolios to 0.4%. The platform also provides exposure to crypto-assets through 15 ETFs linked to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, offering a regulated alternative to direct cryptocurrency custody. The initiative aims to establish Santander as the primary financial institution for young individuals as they begin their investment journeys.
