Santander to close Tulum branch, redirecting customers to Playa del Carmen

Santander has announced the upcoming closure of its branch in Tulum, Quintana Roo. According to notices posted at the facility, banking operations and services will be transferred to the 0825 Playacar Riviera Maya branch located in Playa del Carmen.

The announcement does not specify an official closing date or provide reasons for the decision. Furthermore, the bank has not clarified whether ATMs will remain operational in Tulum or what specific services will be available during the transition period.

The relocation will require customers needing in-person assistance—such as submitting documents, resolving account issues, or meeting with executives—to travel approximately 60 kilometers to Playa del Carmen. This move may impose additional transportation costs and time constraints on local residents, particularly those unable to use digital banking services.
