Sant’Angelo a Cupolo man kills wife and attempts suicide
A 75-year-old man, Faustino Cardillo, killed his wife, Maria D’Alessandro, with a kitchen knife in their home in Sant’Angelo a Cupolo, near Benevento, during a dispute on August 15. The victim was found dead on a sofa.
Following the attack, Cardillo attempted to take his own life by cutting his wrists. He was rescued by medical personnel and transported to the hospital in Benevento in serious condition. He remains under arrest.
Investigators are examining the psychological state of the man, noting that he had recently undergone a specialist medical visit due to a period of malaise. Carabinieri are working to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and determine if there were prior instances of domestic violence.
