Santarcangelo municipality launches €225,000 cemetery renovation project

The Santarcangelo town council approved a €225,000 plan to refurbish local cemeteries. At the San Martino dei Mulini cemetery, a prefabricated, wheelchair‑accessible toilet will be installed on a reinforced‑concrete foundation, accompanied by a new sewer line, an Imhoff tank and a storage tank.

In the central cemetery, extensive works will restore the monumental, hypogeum and courtyard sections: damaged roof tiles will be replaced, waterproofing will be redone, pavements and screeds will be demolished and resurfaced, walls repaired, gutters and drains fixed, and surfaces repainted. A freight elevator will be installed to provide access between ground level and the underground chambers for people with reduced mobility and to ease the transport of coffins. Corridor walls, the elevator machine room and ceilings will also be refurbished. The projects, cleared by the Regional Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, are slated for completion by autumn.
