Santarém City Council prepares school requalification projects

The Santarém City Council is moving forward with execution projects for the requalification and expansion of the D. João II and Alexandre Herculano schools, as well as the requalification of the Mem Ramires school. The municipality has decided to hire external teams to develop these projects to ensure they are ready for submission as soon as community or national and European funding opportunities arise.

Mayor João Teixeira Leite stated that these measures are necessary to address the municipality's population growth and the increasing demand for public facilities. Additionally, requalification projects for the Alcanede EB2,3 and the Ginestal Machado Secondary School are complete, with funding applications already submitted. The council has also contracted CEDRU to study regional growth impacts, including the future VivaMundo theme park and the consequences of a new airport.
