Santarém Football Academy construction visited by FPF President

Pedro Proença, President of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), visited the construction site of the new Football Academy in Santarém. The project, located at Quinta do Rolim near the Santarém Aquatic Complex, is being developed in partnership with the Santarém Municipality and the Santarém Football Association.

The academy is part of a larger ambition to create the ‘Cidade Desportiva de Santarém’ (Santarém Sports City). This initiative aims to establish the region as a national and international hub for sports, tourism, and economic development. The municipality presented an investment plan for local sports infrastructure totaling approximately 14 million euros for the coming years.

While an official date has not been confirmed, the academy's inauguration is tentatively projected for March 19, 2027. The project also includes support for the ‘Viva Mundo – World of Football’ theme park project.
