Santee High School student arrested for firearm possession

A student was taken into custody at Santee High School in South Los Angeles on Wednesday after allegedly possessing a firearm. The incident occurred on the first day of school for the Los Angeles Unified School District.

According to the Los Angeles School Police Department, the discovery of the weapon followed an altercation between students, which prompted an administrative search. The school was placed under a temporary lockdown, but the restriction was lifted around 10:45 a.m., allowing students to resume their regular instructional schedules.

Authorities stated the student was taken into custody without incident and that parents were notified. The Los Angeles School Police Department emphasized its commitment to campus safety and reminded students not to bring dangerous items or objects that resemble weapons to school.
