Sant’Elia residents report safety risks due to Piazza Fattori lighting failure
Residents of the Sant’Elia district in Cagliari are reporting a severe lack of public safety due to a prolonged lighting failure in Piazza Giovanni Fattori. For approximately four months, the central square has remained in total darkness because of unrepaired faults or unreplaced bulbs.
Local citizens claim the lack of illumination has turned the social hub into a site for micro-criminality, including drug dealing, vandalism, and petty theft. Residents have expressed fear regarding physical safety after sunset and noted that the darkness obscures uneven pavement, posing a tripping hazard for children and the elderly. Despite multiple reports sent to municipal offices, residents state they have received no concrete response or repairs.
