Santi Aldama to miss Spanish National Team qualifiers

Santi Aldama will miss the upcoming August window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Europe Qualifiers with the Spanish National Basketball Team. The decision, made by the Spanish Basketball Federation and head coach Chus Mateo, aims to prioritize the player's recovery following surgery on his right knee.

Aldama, who recently joined the Dallas Mavericks, has been working toward full fitness to prepare for the upcoming NBA season. While he attempted to maximize his recovery to participate in matches against Portugal and Greece, officials determined it was more prudent to avoid rushing his return to competition.

Despite Aldama's absence, the Spanish Federation will not call up a replacement, leaving the squad with 14 players. Aldama is expected to be ready for the Dallas Mavericks' training camp, which is scheduled to begin in late September.
