Santiago Abascal image of yacht vacation debunked as AI-generated

An image circulating on social media platforms, including X, Facebook, and TikTok, depicting Vox leader Santiago Abascal and his partner, Lidia Bedman, enjoying seafood on a yacht, has been identified as fake.

Technical analyses suggest the image was generated using artificial intelligence. An analysis using OpenAI’s synthetic image detector found a SynthID watermark, while Hive AI indicated a 74.5% probability of AI generation. Visual inconsistencies were also noted, such as unrealistic finger shapes and a Spanish flag in the background with an incorrectly positioned crest. There are no records of this photograph being published by legitimate media outlets or on the official social media profiles of Abascal or his partner.
