Santiago Altube considers Mercedes mayoral candidacy

Santiago Altube, a current councilman in Mercedes, has publicly acknowledged the possibility of running for mayor. This follows a statement by current Mayor Juan Ignacio Ustarroz, who announced he will not seek re-election.

Ustarroz identified three potential successors to lead the municipal administration: councilwoman Mariana San Martín, Public Services Undersecretary Luis Ponce, and Altube. Altube noted that the potential candidacy is a responsibility discussed with his political group, family, and the mayor, rather than an impulsive decision. He emphasized the importance of a collective renewal process for the local administration.
