Santiago Carreras ruled out for season with ACL injury
Argentine rugby player Santiago Carreras has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, ruling him out for the remainder of the season with Bath Rugby. The injury occurred during the 12th minute of a Premiership match against Gloucester.
The injury is a significant blow to the Argentine national team, Los Pumas, as Carreras is a versatile back capable of playing fly-half and fullback. His recovery is expected to take between seven and twelve months, making his participation in the 2027 World Cup in Australia a race against time.
Los Pumas are facing several other absences ahead of their November Nations Championship fixtures. Thomas Gallo is sidelined with a wrist injury, and Santiago Chocobares is undergoing evaluation following a concussion. To address these vacancies, the coaching staff has called up Rodrigo Martínez Manzano, Mateo Soler, and Matías Moroni.
