Santiago Castro joins AS Roma as Bologna secures Artem Dovbyk loan

AS Roma completed the €35 million transfer of Argentine striker Santiago Castro from Bologna, adding a bonus‑laden clause that grants Bologna a 10 % share of any future resale. Castro signed a five‑year deal with a net salary of €2.2 million per season and will undergo a medical before finalising his contract.

At the same time, Bologna secured Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk on a season‑long loan from Roma for 2026‑2027. The loan carries a €3 million fee and an option to purchase for between €18 million and €20 million. Dovbyk will earn a net €3.6 million annually, fully covered by Bologna, and the club will also absorb part of his salary during the loan period. The swap is expected to generate a profit of €21.5 million for Bologna.

Both moves were announced in late July 2026, with the players arriving in their new cities for medical examinations and contract signings.
