Santiago, Chile Wins 2024 Best South American City Award

Santiago de Chile was named the top urban destination in South America at the 2024 World Travel Awards. The recognition highlights the capital’s revitalised historic districts, especially the Yungay neighbourhood where President Gabriel Boric lives.

Key cultural sites cited include the Museum Taller, founded in 2018 by collector Francisco Dittborn to showcase traditional carpentry tools, and the Peluquería Francesa, a 19th‑century barber shop that now also operates a restaurant offering classic dishes.

The award underscores Santiago’s growing appeal as a centre for arts, heritage and culinary tourism in the region.
