Santiago court postpones hearing for suspect in police sergeant's death
A court hearing regarding coercion measures for Steven Antonio Sandoval Bautista, known as ‘El Vico’, has been postponed to Wednesday, October 28. Sandoval Bautista, 21, is a suspect in the fatal shooting of National Police Sergeant José Ramón Henríquez Mejía in Santiago.
The postponement allows the National Police's legal representative to present the deceased agent's family, who are considered victims in the judicial process. Sandoval Bautista surrendered to authorities following his alleged involvement in the crime and is being represented by the Public Defender's Office.
In a related development, an adolescent suspected of involvement in the sergeant's death will be processed separately through the Santiago jurisdiction for Children, Adolescents, and Youth. Due to the minor's age, their identity remains confidential.
