Santiago de Cuba woman killed by ex-partner following prison escape

A 25-year-old woman, Yadelaine Roque Torres, was killed in the La Caoba area near El Cobre, Santiago de Cuba, allegedly by her former partner, Yorgelis Vidal Ayarde. The incident occurred in front of her residence in the village of Sabana.

According to the Observatorio de Género de Alas Tensas (Ogat), the 24-year-old suspect had reportedly escaped from a nearby prison prior to the attack. Following the assault, Vidal Ayarde fled toward Santiago de Cuba, where he was later found dead on the Marimón Bridge. While authorities have not provided official clarification, reports suggest he committed suicide.

The victim's nearly five-year-old daughter was reportedly a witness to the attack. Local observers and independent journalists noted that Cuban authorities have not issued public statements regarding the murder, the circumstances of the suspect's alleged prison escape, or any prior alerts regarding the danger he posed.
