President Abinader honored for Santiago market overhaul at Expo Amaprosan

President Luis Abinader received a recognition from the Association of Wholesale Provision Merchants (Amaprosan) and other commercial groups during the inauguration of the 35th edition of Expo Amaprosan 2026 in Santiago. The award highlights his commitment to the transformation of the historic Hospedaje Yaque market, a long‑standing infrastructure debt in the city. The government, together with the Santiago municipality, is moving forward with the market’s renovation to improve organization, hygiene, safety and to benefit thousands of families that depend on it.

Abinader also announced plans to expand the water‑supply system for Santiago and Moca, including optimization of the Central Cibao Aqueduct and construction of a new aqueduct in the northern part of the province, to meet the rising demand generated by rapid economic and real‑estate growth. He stressed the need for state support for small and medium merchants and pledged continued dialogue with the commercial sector.
